Herington Man Arrested on Child Pornography Charges

A 29-year-old Herington man was arrested October 4 on charges related to child pornography, according to the Dickinson County Sheriff's Office.

Matthew Jordan Schaecher was taken into custody on a warrant charging him with Internet trading in child pornography, aggravated Internet trading in child pornography, and sexual exploitation of a child.

The investigation began after the sheriff's office received tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. On September 4, deputies executed a search warrant at a residence in the 800 block of West Day Street in Herington, with assistance from the Herington Police Department. Following the execution of additional search warrants, an arrest warrant was issued for Schaecher.

Schaecher was booked into the Dickinson County Detention Facility.

Schaecher is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
