Wild Bill Hickok Statue Nearing Unveiling at Old Abilene Town

August 5, 2026

A new statue of Wild Bill Hickok is set to be unveiled at Old Abilene Town in Abilene, Kansas, according to Visit Abilene. A date for the unveiling has not yet been announced.

The statue was created by the same artist responsible for the monument at Hickok's grave in Deadwood, South Dakota. The artist's name was not identified in the announcement.

Hickok served as a marshal in Abilene, a role that figures prominently in the city's history. Photos of the Deadwood monument were provided by Gleason Family Adventure.
