Eisenhower Presidential Library Draws Visitors to Abilene, Kansas
The Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum in Abilene, Kansas, continues to serve as a destination for visitors interested in the life and legacy of Dwight D. Eisenhower, the 34th President of the United States. The site includes a museum, a presidential library, and Eisenhower's boyhood home.
Eisenhower grew up in Abilene before going on to serve as Supreme Allied Commander during World War II and later as president from 1953 to 1961. The museum's exhibits cover his military career and presidency.
The grounds also include the Place of Meditation, where Eisenhower, his wife Mamie, and their first son, Doud, are interred. The boyhood home, where Eisenhower was raised, is open to visitors as part of the site.
