Katheryn Frances Faulkner Wilson, age 78, passed away on August 24, 2026 at home, where she was most at peace, surrounded by her family.

Katheryn was born on January 22, 1948, in Hays, Kansas, to the late Leo W. Faulkner and Mabel (Harger) Faulkner. She grew up in a household deeply rooted in the agricultural traditions of Northwest Kansas, where her grandfather, Hugh Faulkner, originally homesteaded along the Saline River basin in Graham County in 1880. She attended grade school and junior high in Hays before transferring to St. Mary of the Plains Catholic High School in Dodge City, Kansas where she graduated in 1966. She then returned to Hays, attending Fort Hays State University, where she graduated with a master's degree in speech pathology.

On February 16, 1974, Katheryn married her devoted husband, Bob Wilson, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays. After just two months of dating, Bob took her to the beautiful “Murphy Pasture,” later known as “Eden House,” and proposed simply by saying, “I’m ready when you are.” He told her he would one day build her a home there—a dream that finally came true in 2010. Together, they built a beautiful life rooted in faith, family, and farming, establishing lasting roots in Abilene, Kansas.

A brilliant scholar with a heart for helping others, Katheryn dedicated more than 40 years of her professional life to supporting children and transforming their speech capabilities, working with the Central Kansas Cooperative in Education until her retirement in 2012. Driven by a lifelong hunger for the Word of God, she returned to her studies and earned a degree in theology from Newman University in 2015. Her profound faith became a cornerstone of her community; she was instrumental in bringing Catholic radio to the Abilene area in 2016, spending years dedicating herself to spreading the word of God through St. Therese Radio.

Katheryn also possessed a vibrant love for music and theater. In high school, she performed in “Murder is Fun”. In college, graced the stage as the lead in the classic Greek tragedy “Antigone” and later participating in the Junction City Little Theater production of “The King and I”. She beautifully blended her passion for the arts with her deep faith at St. Andrew Catholic Church, where for many years she lovingly led and directed the annual Christmas Eve children's Mass, creating cherished holiday traditions for generations of local families. Her spirited energy and boundless dedication to her community left a lasting

mark on all who knew her.

Farming was not simply part of Katheryn’s life; it was one of the ways she expressed her strength, devotion, and deep care for God’s creation. She worked side by side with Bob, never hesitating to take on the hard work herself—from cutting down trees with her own chainsaw to building her beloved cow-calf herd. She tenderly nursed mama cows through their final days and saved baby calves born in the bitter cold by wrapping them in her bed comforter, bringing them into the house, giving them warm baths, singing to them, and bottle-feeding them to ensure they received the nourishment they needed.

Katheryn’s greatest legacy was her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Bob Wilson; her four children, Sarah York (Paul), Jessie Hauck (Chas), Lucas Wilson (Sharon), and Heather Wilson; her two surviving siblings, Margaret Armbrister and Leo Faulkner; and her nine cherished grandchildren, Kirstyn, Tristin, Braden, Jade, Josie, Mason, Alex, Mac, Grace, and Hudson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Elaine Weigel, her brother David Faulkner, and her beloved son, Jared Joseph Wilson, with whom she is now peacefully and joyfully reunited in heaven.

A Rosary will be held on Friday, August 28 at 5:30 p.m. at St. Andrews Catholic Church, Abilene, KS with family visitation following. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 29 at 10:00 a.m. at St Andrews Catholic Church with celebrant Fr. Kade Megaffin. Interment will follow at Mount St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Andrews Catholic School. They may be left at the church or sent in care of Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW 3rd Abilene, KS 67410.

Betty Jean Myers left this earth on August 24, 2026, peacefully in her recliner in her beloved home. Betty was born June 1, 1937, in St. Joseph Michigan to parents Jack Wyman and Natalie Grau.

She was married February 12, 1955, to Gene Paul Myers at the Evangical Trinity Lutheran Church in Berrien Springs Michigan. Betty worked at the school districts as a cook and custodian after her children were of school age. She was a busy homemaker caring for five children. She loved to cook and she made the best chocolate chip cookies! And she loved to do yard work.

Through the years Betty and Gene lived in Berrien Springs MI., Pomona California, Garden City, Kansas and retiring in Hope Kansas in 1998. Betty unselfishly cared for Gene the last five years of his life.

Betty is survived by 5 children: Deb Knight, Paula (Fred) French, David (Patty) Myers, Jack Myers, and Danny (Marybeth) Myers.

Betty has 19 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and 3 great- great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Gene Myers, her parents, great grandson Colgin, five sisters and one brother.

Visitation for Betty will be Thursday evening August 27th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Martin Becker Carlson Funeral home. 414 N.W. 3rd Abilene, KS

Services for Betty will be on Friday August 28th at 11:00 a.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church 802 E. Trapp Street Herington, Kansas.

Memorials may be made in Betty’s honor to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
