Sue Ann (Dean) Murry
September 28, 1934 - October 17, 2026
Sue Murry passed away peacefully on October 17, 2026.
Sue Ann (Dean) Murry was born on September 28, 1934 in Waterville to Galyn E. and Mildred (Irwin) Dean.
Sue grew up in Waterville with her two older brothers, Ronnie and Barrie, who would tease her relentlessly. In high school, Sue was head cheerleader, and along with her two best friends formed a vocal trio and would be asked to sing at events quite frequently. Growing up she learned to sew from her mother and made most of her own clothes.
She went on to graduate from Topeka Business School and then moved to Salina to be the Administrative Assistant to the surgical practice of Drs. Nickell, Livingston and Schmidt for almost 30 years. She also worked in the radiation oncology department in Asbury Hospital and worked for a time at Kansas State University.
She met and fell in love with the love of her life, Bobby J Murry. They were married on June 29, 1974 and moved to Solomon to start their life together. Later they would move to Abilene.
Although they never had any children together, Sue treated Bob's children just as they were her own. Bob and Sue had a full social life and they loved to go boating, camping and fishing together.
Sue spent most of her married life volunteering for the Red Cross blood drive, the Memorial Hospital Volunteer Corps, even holding the position of treasurer, and in later years in the hospital gift shop. She also volunteered for the Dickinson County Board of Realtors and helped in many areas within her church.
Sue loved to cook and had a cookbook collection to rival any home chef. Sue loved people and everyone loved Sue with her contagious smile, quick wit and ornery side. She was raised to be kind and generous to others, a tradition she carried on throughout her life. She was proceeded in death by her parents, brothers, and husband, Bobby Murry.
Sue was cremated and a public graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 3 at 11:00 am at Abilene Cemetery. Memorials can be made in Sue's name to the Abilene Area Food Pantry, Clothing and Thrift Shop or First United Methodist Church

June Clydesdale Nold
October 9, 2026
June Clydesdale Nold was born on June 12, 1942, in Lenora, to Leonard and Doris Carr Clydesdale. A farmer's daughter, June learned to garden, cook, sew, stretch a budget, and be self-sufficient. She did her best to pass these skills on to her children. June graduated as valedictorian from Lenora High School, attended Fort Hays State University, and earned her B. A. and teaching credential from San Diego State University. She followed in her mother's footsteps to become a teacher, beginning her teaching career in Oceanside, California, and eventually retiring from Wichita Collegiate School. While attending Fort Hays State University, June met her husband, Joe. Together, they established many households over the years in North Carolina, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, California, Colorado, and Nebraska, as well as several locations in Kansas, including Concordia, Glasgow, Wichita, and Abilene. She was a patient wife but ultimately ruled the roost. June was the rock that kept a frequently moving family together. She made new friends and got to know neighbors in each city, but after one too many moves, June insisted on putting down permanent roots at Red Bud Lake in Abilene. Socially active wherever she lived, June truly shined in Abilene. First United Methodist Church, the church choir, bell choir, Quilt Guild, Red Bud Lake Association, and Arts Council were just a few of the organizations that benefited from June's time and energy. The organization closest to her heart was Hospice of Dickinson County. Poetically, June passed away peacefully on October 9, 2026, at Harry Hynes Hospice in Wichita, following a long journey with Alzheimer's disease.
June is survived by her children, Jill and Tom Cantonwine, Jeff and Laura Nold, and Joe and Sarah Nold; grandchildren, Jordan, Tanner, Griffin, and Caitlin Cantonwine, Connor and Sarah Nold, and Lily and Thomas Nold; and great-granddaughter, Willow Cantonwine Sheffield. She is also survived by her siblings, Robert (Sally) Clydesdale and Elaine (Joe) Clydesdale Barton; sister-in-law, Judy Nold; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Nold, Sr., and her beloved sister, Ann Clydesdale Engelland.
A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church, 601 North Cedar, Abilene, on Saturday, October 24, 2026. Family visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. The family extends its sincere thanks to the staff of Regent Park, where June had been a resident since 2020.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Harry Hynes Hospice in recognition of the compassionate care they provided to June and her family during her final days. Donations may be made at Harry Hynes Hospice.
