Joshua DeLore Patton

Joshua DeLore Patton, 51, of Abilene, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2026.

Josh enjoyed spending time outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing. A talented artist and skilled laborer, he had a natural ability to work with his hands and found opportunities throughout his life to put his creativity and practical skills to use.

A talented athlete, Josh made history in 1993 when he became the first state wrestling champion in Chapman High School history, winning the Kansas state title in the 152-pound weight class. His achievement remains a proud moment in the school’s athletic history and a testament to his determination and competitive spirit.

Josh was a proud father and grandfather and is survived by his sons, Cade Patton of Tipton, and Collin Patton of Salina; his grandchildren, Grayson, Delilah, Layla, Lincoln, and Jace; his father and stepmother, Terry and Tana Patton; his mother, Julie Patton (Hiatt); his brothers, Joe Patton and Jared Patton; and his stepsisters, Casie Gorton, Lindsey Wilson, and Tara Tidd.

Details regarding a celebration of life to be held in the spring will be announced by the family at a future date.
