Sheriff Updates County Fee Schedule for Inmate Transport and Housing

The Dickinson County Commission approved updates to the county fee schedule related to the transportation and housing of inmates, following a recommendation from the sheriff's office.

Officials said the changes removed certain non-transport fee categories and added a daily housing fee based on information provided by the Kansas Department of Corrections. The commission's motion removed the "no transport" treatment categories for Level 1 and Level 2 and added the Kansas Department of Corrections daily fee for housing inmates. The motion passed.

Separately, the sheriff reported the county is currently housing several inmates from Ottawa County, noting the jail reciprocates with surrounding counties on transportation and housing when needed.
