Eisenhower Library to Examine Ike’s Role in Little Rock School Desegregation
The Eisenhower Presidential Library will host a hybrid Lunch & Learn program examining President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s role in the 1957 desegregation of Little Rock Central High School.
“Ike & the Little Rock Nine” is scheduled for noon Aug. 27 in the library’s indoor courtyard in Abilene and will also stream live on the library’s YouTube channel. In-person guests are encouraged to arrive by 11:45 a.m.; a light box lunch will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Guest speaker Brian Schwieger, program manager for interpretation, education and visitor services at Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site, will discuss the crisis, federal authority and Eisenhower’s leadership. Schwieger will participate virtually.
